We love all types of rum, from all over the world. But we wanted to make a rum that was a little closer to home, here in Hertfordshire, from Scratch. We were one of the first rum distilleries in the UK. We opened in 2016, spent two years experimenting with different recipes, and by 2019 we started to sell bottles of our Golden Rum. We were pretty proud of what we were making, and others seemed to love it too.

WE WON OUR FIRST IWSC MEDAL FOR OUR RUM IN 2019, SO WE DECIDED TO MAKE MORE

Unlike other distilleries, we don’t produce other spirits. We are rum nerds.

We are also ingredient freaks, obsessed with making use of the best that nature has to offer. We’ve worked hard to develop flavour profiles in our rums that are grounded in locality and British seasons but which are true to rum. We’ve created botanical rums that stay honest to seasonal growing and flowering, foraging sustainably to create a better connection between nature, drink and drinker. 

We’re committed to developing the business and using the proceeds to re-invest in projects that support nature – from planting woodland to re-wilding meadows.

If in twenty years we can look back and say we made some pretty great rum, while leaving the surroundings in a better position than we found them, we can drink happy.
